Synopsis
Chang-Ho, 12, becomes friend with a North-Korean immigrant about the same age who just crossed the Dooman river, border between North-Korea and China. His mute sister Soon-hee and his wise grand-father will get along with him in a series of misfortunes.
Zhang Lu
Born in Jilin, China, in 1962. His sole short film, 11, was competing in Venice 2001.
He made his feature debut with Tang Poetry, competing in Locarno in 2004.
His second feature film, Grain in Ear, was invited to the 2005 Cannes Film Festival Critic’s Week and won the ACID prize. He also won awards from various international film festivals like Pesaro 2005, Vesoul 2006 and Cinema Novo 2006.
In 2007, Hyazgar (Desert Dream), coproduced by Arizona Films in France, was invited to compete at Berlinale. The film was also invited to Hong Kong, Pusan and Paris that year.
In 2008, Zhang Lu presented Iri in competition in Roma, the film was released in Korea together with Chongqing. Both were screened in Moma, New York, in 2009.
